    Lost snake...

Snappy the HET piebald juvenile ball python has escaped his tub and I cannot find him! There is a small gap in that rack shelf and Chuck who is just a wee hatchling managed to escape there. I switched their shelves, and I thought for sure that Snappy couldn't fit as he is quite a bit larger than Chuck.

Well when I got home from work today to check on the sneks, Snappy was not in his tub. I pulled the house apart for about an hour with no luck. I am afraid he went into one of the forced air heating/cooling vents in the floor! It would be a logical place to go for him, but the grates are quite small. I don't know what to do now. Any thoughts on luring out a lost snake?

I have since fixed that shelf, so there is no gap...

Look behind all the bins (that's where my snake went when she got out), then follow the wall and look for the first place to hid like closets and keep circling out. good luck!!

    I found snappy!

I looked all over the place, and was pretty much surrendered. I decided to feed Flame the Piebald (Snappy's sister) and when she grabbed the thawed rat pup, it ripped in half, and was pretty gross smell. (she ate both halves BTW, Flame is a very human friendly snake, but she eats like a ravenous dragon). The odor from the disembodied thawed dead rat was pretty bad, so I decided to clean out her tub before bacteria started a big colony in her tub. I picked up her hide... AND THERE WAS SNAPPY! HIDING IN HIS SISTER'S HIDE UNDERNEATH HER! Amazing.

I shored up the shelf, so the snakes can no longer pull off any Houdini act. I tried to grab Snappy and take a photo, but Snappy lived up to his name and struck at me until I put him back in his own tub. This is the best I could get...does anyone want to buy a grumpy male HET piebald??? I will let him go for cheap!

Omg! I'm so glad you found him! Might want to make sure Flame's tub is more secure so she doesn't decide to take a crawl about too!

Yea, they are both on the same shelf, I shored up the whole shelf so they can't give me another heart attack.

My Jenova did something like that, got out, hid behind a tub of one of my big normal girls... took me a couple hours before I noticed that tub was sticking out and when I looked, there she was with that 'What??' look (ok, I'm putting human emotions on a snake, bad me)

Really glad you found the snakey brat.

I looked behind the tubs and all over the rack first thing... I didn't think to look in the other tubs, in the other snake's hides!
