I agree snakes need to be respected. Not enough people understand them. I use Clyde my 2016 male pastel to help teach people about them. He's a sweetheart and super chill with people. He's also a voracious eater. He's up to a small rat now. When i got him he was on fuzzies.

I occasionally switch back to mice if one of my sneks doesn't eat but for the most part they are on rats. Just more convenient for me.

I have never weighed any of my snakes, except GODZILLA, just because she is so monstrous I was curious. (2740 grams!)

I can tell by their appearance if they are too thin, or not.
