    Woke up to baby snakes!

I couldn't get a good video of them in the cage with their mother because it was too dark, but I caught her right as she was pushing out the last one before I left for work. They're all healthy and gorgeous! I can't even tell you how happy I am. Wish me luck getting them started!

Update: Babies are doing fine! They're all 24-26g and their umbilical cords have dried up and fallen off. None have shed yet, but a few have begun cruising their tubs in search of food, which is awesome.

After popping and close examination for spurs I'm pretty sure I have 1.3. Tempted to keep one of the girls, but we'll see how it goes.

This has been a great first attempt at breeding. The babies are all perfect and active, their mother ate throughout the entire ordeal (one meal last Sunday and one today, I can bump her back up to smalls again now that she isn't full of babies), and she's still has good body tone and decent weight even after losing over 100g. I caughter her playing around in her skull hide earlier today:

Not bad for her first litter.

Update: The babies all shed perfectly and today I offered what I hope will be their first meal. Things didn't go as planned, though.

The male was the only one who seemed to show any interest. Females #2 and #4 just slithered around aimlessly and #3 kept trying to escape. Little boy started getting nippy as I moved between tubs, so I picked the pinky up with my feeding tweezers and waved it in his face. After a few warning bites he took it!

Enjoy your first meal, little guy!

I tried the same thing with the girls, but no luck. Gonna leave the pinkies in overnight and hope they're gone tomorrow.

Oops, forgot to update this. They all ate after I left the pinkies in for a few hours. I offered f/t on Sunday and they took those without hesitation too! Then yesterday they had their third meal, also f/t. One girl wanted to eat hers in privacy, but the rest took them right off the tweezers. Regrettably, that means they're ready to sell.

Yeah, they're adorable. Girl #3 is going to a pet home. She's the most active of the bunch and I'm glad she's gonna be somebody's baby. I'm considering a trade with the other three, for a red phase western hognose girl, 66% het pink pastel.

    He's right here!

They look a little more like him. His grays are slightly darker/more yellow than Mom's and the babies have a lot of yellow and peachy tones. Mom has a lighter/more neutral gray. Shy girl #4 is most like her. The rest are all like Dad.

Morticia and Gomez sure make beautiful babies.
