    What is this?

I found a guy on Craigslist selling an adult male pied for a pretty good price so I went ahead and met the gentleman and purchased the snake. Once home I noticed a few scales that looked a little odd. Can someone tell me what this is?

    Thanks.

My instincts are saying scale rot but sure someone with more hands on experience with it will be able to confirm/deny.

I'm actually wondering if it is a discoloured piece of stuck shed.

Have you tried wiping it with a damp cloth?

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^. I concur with the Dr. D. I don't think it's scale rot bc it's too localized to one area. Just an impression though.
Stay in peace and not pieces.
