    I'm evacuating tomorrow

For the first time in my life, I'm actually evacuating for a hurricane. This time I am supposed to get 80+ mph winds for 9 hours. One forecast still shows me getting 100+ mph winds.

I loathe the idea of leaving, it's just against everything in me but I also know logically that it's safer and smarter to just evacuate to my friends' home and be safer.

I've had the evacuation plan for years, just in case. My plan is to ziploc each snake's ID card and drop it into the cloth bag with the snake. I ziptie each bag shut securely. I also inspect each bag as I bag the snakes. I did not plan on getting tagged by one of the smallest babies, but there you go. I bled freely for an amazing amount of time while trying to get his bitey little heinie into the bag. I then put several snakes into each of three large bins(think about the size of a adult BP rack bin). I end up with the smallest ones in one bin, the largest in one bin and the middling ones in one bin. The two newest babies are really too small for me to feel comfy putting them into a bag so they went into a clear plastic tupperware(like they are taken to shows in).

They will stay in the garage at the place, which should be a better temp than in the AC house. I also have to take 3 elderly dogs with me, with their crates since they have cats.

I will be hoping that the storm goes okay, that the power isn't out long and I can get back quickly. I'm stressed, having anxiety attacks and still know that it's the safest and smartest thing to do. But I don't deal well with things out of my control and there will be zero that is in my control as soon as I drive away.

    Wish me luck.

The decision to leave - or not - was in your control. IMO leaving was the smart decision given the conditions you described.

    Stay safe.

Be safe; I think you made the right decision to leave. It is in your best interest, and the best interest of your animals. I pray for your safe travels, protection for your home while you are away, and your safe and soon return.
