He moved the hides around to how he wanted them but he seems to like using them! He found out he could play in between them and was having a blast. .

Your snake is using the "hides" because they are his only option. As you can already see, he is able to move them, which I strongly believe is a dangerous situation. Not trying to be a jerk, but offering advice with the animal's safety in mind.
