Pros and cons of cutting eggs on day 52

I have a clutch of six eggs, my first clutch ever, and today is day 52. I know some people cut them on day 52 every time, no matter what. What should I do? Should I cut them? Or just wait and see what happens?

Don't cut. Most breeders who cut do so on day 55 or later. And they know exactly how their incubator runs and can tell you to the day when babies will pip. First clutch you want to wait until you have a pip.

Here is a prime example for you. This year I had several clutches. My last 3 first piped in day 52 second piped in day 57 third on day 54. So if I cut on day 52 my second clutch would have been just a bit early. But if you wait for a pip. Then the babies are ready

I do not recommend cutting unless one start to pip or you know when they are due to hatch.

Since I used the same setup, I know that my animals pip at day 60 so on day 60 I either cut everything or whatever has not pip on It's own.

What are the risk of cutting early?

Dryness - Bacteria Exposure - Twisted Umbilicus (same if you candle too often towards the end of incubation.

So my advice be PATIENT, yes cutting can save an hatching but it can also kill it.
