There is a lot of info here. Also have a look at the stickies on setups in the husbandry section of the forum. Temps should be taken under the substrate. Any heat source should be controlled with a thermostat.

A thermometer is not a thermostat.
You need a thermostat to plug your heat pad into, and ANY heat source, or it will burn your snake.
