Vet appt in 3 day -- help with URI meanwhile?
I got a new baby just a foot long 67g male. Not sure on the age -- likely a couple months old.
Yep, another big chain store reject. I don't mind.
They got him on June 5th, right away had a couple of vet appts for a *pneumonia* (an URI really). He refused to eat for them so they *tube fed* him twice during all this period.
The good thing -- I already got a rat fuzzy into him with a minimal assistance. Yay!
The bad thing -- he does indeed has an URI: I could hear a very faint clicking noise, he doesn't flick his tongue and breathing is rather laborious. During the feeding he didn't *taste* the rat but rubbed and rubbed his mouth on it which was a bit strange...
The appt is made for the upcoming Monday -- but is there anything I can do to help him in meanwhile?
The setup:
9L plastic box w/vents drilled, temps 80 ambient/90 hot spot, humidity 80% w/aspen(high, I know), 2 small hides (reptilebasics), a vine to crowd the space
PS: i seem to remember we had a similar discussion recently but cannot manage to find it

When mine are sick I prefer to keep the snake on paper so I can easily clean and sanitize the enclosure every day. If you need the cypress to keep humidity up so the mucous stays moist then that's fine.
I would ask the pet store what antibiotics (if any) their vet had prescribed, yours may want to push a different one while waiting on the results of the culture if the first one was ineffective.
