Tips to get humidity up

Title pretty yet much sums it up, I'm using cypress bedding half the screen is covered and I have two water bowls, one is under the CHE

Can I mist the cypress to help add moisture?

Some will say yes, some will say no it will mold. I'm not fond on wood as a substrate. Only my opinion. I use herpyopia. A coconut substrate. Super good stuff. I would use moss if you want to get moisture. Do you have a screen top? Cover it with cardboard and foil or Saran Wrap.

Depending on how low your humidity is will make the answers different.

Mine is low since the roommates like to run the AC so I offer a bowl of dampened moss as a "microclimate" if he wants more humidity than the 50-60%, and move it into his hides when he's looking about to shed. Some also recommend a sponge.

However, misting the cypress should be fine, it's intended to be damp; just not SOAKING. I have to do the same for my hemp substrate, since it's intended to work in a similar fashion to cypress while being locally sourced.

I use both Reptichip and Prococo, I think I like the Prococo a bit better as I've had problems with a few Reptichips molding and never with Prococo. Both absorb a ton of water and totally eliminate odors for weeks. They are both coconut husk substrates but they are both pretty expensive compared to other options. I'd probably try mixing it in with the Cypress to see if it will improve holding the moisture. I especially like the coconut husk substrate for my 26 pound retic, when she makes a mess in her massive tub I simply spot clean. I don't have to strip the whole thing down more than once every six weeks. I've seen people use paper products and they are constantly chasing the mess the retics make several times a week. Plus the humity stays up. We have a desert like climate here and I simply use a pump up sprayer and spray it down twice a week. If I wanted to keep the humidity spot on I'd probably spray three times a week but I do tend to let it dry out a bit between spraying. I like it so much I'm considering ordering a pallet of Prococo, it's about half price if you get it trucked in by the pallet.

Place damp moss in the hides. Keep it damp during a shed. Allow it to dry out between dampenings during non shed times.

This gives me great sheds.

herptopia is coconut husks gone through three levels of sorting. Dust free and holds the moisture like no ones business. Great stuff.

One tip I learned if you have a fan in the room the snakes are in make sure you turn it off, fans push the humidity right out

They definitely have a huge impact on humidity. However, some air circulation is important. Finding the right balance of air circulation and humidity control isn't always easy outside of a rack system, depending on your climate.
