How to Push Up Temperatures in Tub?

Hello all, I am having a newbie problem with my setup, I have no snake yet. I have an UTH connected to Herpstat set to 90, which is heating my warm hide to 90, but my temperatures for the overall enclosure are only 72 - 75, including the cool end. I was wondering how I can increase them to more healthy levels, or if they need to be increased at all. I called 2 places and was told it's OK but I just want to make totally sure.

One suggestion I got was a ceramic heat emitter. While this is possible, won't my ball python burn himself on the mesh when he touches it? I do not want this to happen.

I don't advise using a che in a tub. Tank or viv it would work. 72 is too low. Options for a tub are to either add a second heat pad and thermostat for the cool side or increase the ambient temperature of the room.

If this is a tub alone and not a rack system a che will work great. I've done it many times.

You will need a lamp stand. Both big box pet stores have them. You can use a dimmer or tstat to dial it in as well as the lamp stand.

Raise the lamp stand to lower the heat delivered. Lower it to raise the heat.

Also with a che you need to use the proper fixture. I suggest the purpose built wire cage style. Using the inappropriate fixture will cause heat to build up and burn out the che.

Something that has also worked for me is placing a blanket or some sort of cover over the tub.

I live in a very drafty 200 year old home that has no central heating in one portion, so it's very difficult to heat evenly. I have two tubs, but with UTH hooked into a VE-200, and I keep a blanket over them during the winter. Works great to keep in humidity (it gets dry when it's cold too) and heat. It's not pretty, but it's functional until I can get a better set up (ie, the new house I'm building currently lol)
