MITES!!!

Hello all,
I am a new python owner (Floyd). And i have a question for you all. Floyd has what seems to be mites in his eyes!! I'm am pretty sure of this cuz one crawled out and i killed it. If somebody could tell me what i should do to help my poor guy out; that would be amazing. I also think he's getting ready to shed...so i'm guessing that it's gonna be a pretty bad one. PLEASE HELP ME!

Im a first time snake owner to and i read on a web site that if your snake has mites to take a dog/cat flea collar and put it in a plastic container with holes in it,that would kill them.But like i said im a first time snake owner.

There are better products out there than the dog/cat flea collars. There are actual sprays and things to treat snake mites these days. I just don't recall exactly what they are.

cool, that stuff looks great...how about getting them out of his eye...he's not a happy camper...he's just wraped around my arm looking at me like..."dude, do u see the things in my eye....get them out...i'm hating this." (a little snake humor)

the provent a mite will kill all the mites dont try to dig them out... no possible way you could get them all....

yea you have to take care of those cuz some could be possible disease carriers!

APDux40 .. you might want to read the Instructions and warnings on the label of the product: http://www.exoticlizards.com/provent...tructions.html .

You will also need to completely clean everything associated with your snake. Cage, hides, waterbowls, any fake plants you may have, substrate, and it might not be a bad idea to give the area around the cage a good cleaning as well. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Because of my uneasiness of a Provent-a-Mite direct application not being recommended, I've always stuck with Reptile-Relief, which uses no poisons/toxins of any kind and works best when directly applied to the animal.

You aren't, however, supposed to drown your animal in the stuff, it works wonders, overnight even.
