How much weight can a pvc rack carry?

Quick question... I'm thinking about putting about a 45 lb glass tank on top of my pvc rack (just a 4 level rack) to save space, but not sure if it would damage the rack?

I'm going to have only a small room for these snakes, and I'm trying my hardest to figure out ways to fit another... so that I can get my russian rat snake... LOL

I would say you're fine as long as you're distributing the weight down the sides. You just don't want to depend on the top to carry the weight because it'll just bow.

Ah I just checked the sides, and the top doesn't sit on the side panels... It's more like the side panels are holding the top panel up with some screws... :S Maybe not..

Maybe if you put some plywood or something similar on top, that would distribute the weight out to the sides

I would get a piece of 1/4 hardwood and place it on top (measured exact to the top surface) because it may last a little while but that top isn't weight bearing...

I think that would be too much weight for a pvc rack.
I guess it also depends on the style but I've found with most pvc (racks and cages) any weight (20+lbs) on top is going to cause some bowing and damage over time.
