    New irian jaya, odd colour?

Hi all, just wanted to share our new carpet 'dolly' she is gorgeous and was sold as an ij, she looks very bright for a straight ij, just wanted some more experienced opinions on whether she is pure? She came from a very reputable local herp store.
Hope you all like her as much as we do... I forgot how powerful they are even at this size!-) I had a pair several years ago.[IMG][/IMG]

Here is the usual irian jaya colour, she has virtually no green, massive grey blushing... She must be a hybrid no?

Maybe coastal x irian jaya, any opinions, I'm far from an expert just going on Google images?

It can be anyone's guess. Unless you know the lineage, what the actual parents were, you can't be sure.

Just guessing I'd say possible IJ with Coastal or Jag, or Jungle Jag mix; or even high percentage Coastal. If a gun were put to my head, I'd go with the latter.

One piece of the puzzle may surface at adulthood. If Dolly is in the five-six foot range around 4-5 years of age then I would suspect at least one of the parents were IJ or a combo of High percentage IJ's.

To me, she looks like a nice Carpet. There is nothing wrong at all with plain o' Carpets or, mutts. Some members here have some beautiful mutts. They will probably stop by and post some photos.

    Congrats on your beautiful Carpet.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Cheers pal, I'm perfectly happy with a mutt, just curious as she doesn't look like a regular ij.
Infact if she gets 10-12ft all the better...
I only went to buy crickets and came home with her because of how she looks, as soon as I held her (or rather she attempted to snap my fingers!-) I knew she was coming home. tbf ive Been contemplating another carpet for some time.

I agree with Reinz. I see more coastal influence than IJ but without accurate lineage information it's almost impossible to confirm the exact genetics of your carpet. Very nice critter in any event.

Cheers all, she is a character!-)
So we agree it's fairly unlikely she is straight ij then it seems?

I think the chances are more so that she is Not rather than she is.

She could be a light colored IJ that will probably darken some what in a few years. Or there is always the possibility of being a light colored locality IJ.

But more than likely she is a mix. Without seeing the parents there is just no way to be 100%.
