    Remembering Steve Irwin

I heard it on the radio while I got ready for work, I couldn't believe it. I moped around and when I told my coworkers why I was so blue, the most I got was, "Gee, that's too bad." Too bad indeed, too bad for the millions of dollars that will never be raised for conservation without the power of his celebrity. Too bad for all of the wilderness that will be lost without his worldwide message of conservation and advocacy. Too bad for all the threatened and endangered animals who will anonymously perish without him as their champion. And perhaps most devastating, too bad for all the children who will never pursue a career in biology or ecology or any natural science without him to inspire them.
Every year we lose celebrities before their time, and for the most part we lament the songs yet to be written, the rolls yet to be played. But it is only for Steve Irwin that we can say with conviction and sincerity that today the earth is a lesser planet than it would have otherwise been.

He was my childhood hero. When I first heard that he died, I literally burst out crying. I was 6. I had always been interested in animals, but he was one of the people who really made me want to work with animals. I wanted to be just like him when I grew up, and I still do.

Whatever work I will go into when I'm older, either it be conservation, a vet, a zookeeper or some sort of scientist working with animals, it would be always be dedicated to him.

    Rest In Peace, Steve.

Yes I miss him as well. He was one of the last true animal lovers who was genuine. You said you were six and cried. I was 31 and cried. I felt like I lost a friend. It still bothers me that he's gone.

    Re: Remembering Steve Irwin

Agreed. I watched Animal Planet religiously as a child. When I heard about his passing, I sobbed like I was a child all over again. :/ There were so many negative comments about him -I was in highschool at the time- and I just couldn't get over the fact that a wonderful, animal-loving dude who was known for raising so much in charity was gone, just like that. RIP, Steve. We love you.

No doubt Steve Irwin touched and blessed the lives of many people and even more animals. Gone but never forgotten. RIP.

so Robert Irwin, son of Steve Irwin, was on the Jimmy Fallon show last night and wow, he's a chip off the old block. he's a young spitting image of his pops and has the enthusiasm to match.

Can't think of anything/anyone that would have made Steve more proud.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.
