It is not common but feeders do break. Usually more of a pop when a snake really constricts. My BRB has done it a few times. Once he popped one and then ate it under water with the guts hanging out. He got it all down and it was a heck of a thing to see.

It can be caused by over heating the feeder. You just need it to be just over 100F to mimic a live rodent.
