I'm realizing now that I've done a TON of lurking, with little participation, and wanted to give an update on my girl Opal. Here she is the day I got her:
Admittedly, I stole the name from someone on a site, maybe this one, but I thought it was perfect for this girl when I got her because she had this kind of pink hue (which didn't really show up in the photos I have) that, along with the other colors she displayed, was kind of opalescent. She was like 74 grams when I got her. Here she is now at 300+ and with a much "dirtier" coloration that I actually LOVE:
She almost looks like a different snake when I look at the photos side by side now. She feeds SO well, though she does often go for my hand instead of the mouse when I use tongs. No bites yet though. I have noticed a very slight wobble with her, but it may just be me. She's doing very well, and I look forward to seeing how her color continues to develop.
Also, if you notice in the background, I purchased a T-8 for her, and I must say that I am impressed with it so far. Humidity and heat levels are SO much easier to maintain now. (No more constant spraying to barely keep the humidity optimal like I had to with the aquarium.) I have a small male albino in one half, and plan to get her her own AP cage once she's too big to use the split cage. I highly recommend it for anyone shopping for a better enclosure! I bought this metal rack from Lowe's that is black and simple, and the set up looks great together, with the T-8 fitting PERFECTLY on the shelf!
