Aw good! I'm glad you liked watching him! <3
Albert, that pleases me to hear. And I have a special affection for him too! He's the best first snake ever.
I'll be honest and say that my Royals are possibly more active than the Boas , Burm and a fre others ... in the EVENING ...
People seem to forget that Royals / Balls are nocturnal .
Many also give them a hide and a bowl of water and then day that they're boring !?!?!
What the devil are they gonna do with a hide and a bowl of water ??

LOL You said exactly what I wanted to say. Give an empty tub with nothing to do and sees ball python doesn't move and isn't active. Then announces, "Ball pythons just sit there and do nothing, ever! They suck at climbing too!" Yeah, not sure even a carpet python would do anything either if there's nothing to interact with and nothing to do. And of course there is no climbing behavior when there is nothing to climb. LOL
Same happens among green tree python owners. These snakes may be primitive, but they're not rocks. When they see there is nothing to do, they will do nothing.
Of course, I don't think this should be pressed too much upon newbies who have not learned/researched to dial in their husbandry yet. Then any stress-related activity can be mistaken for exploring.
