Hey there, so hoping someone can offer an explanation here. I have a ~6-7 month old BP who has been healthy and great. For the last 1 month or so, he's been noticeably less active. Usually, if we were to get up in the middle of the night we'd see him exploring around and hanging out, but I haven't seen him for a while. And additionally, when it's feeding day, he's usually out and about all day long, searching for food but that didn't happen for the last two feedings. He's shed since then(completely successful, eyecaps and tail tip shed fine) but still isn't active.
We haven't changed anything about his husbandry besides dialing back the hotspot a touch due to the ambient temps in the house rising. We handle him a few times a week, he doesn't act abnormal when handled.
Info about husbandry and such in case it's needed:
Temps with a temp gun are: Ambient: 75-79, hot spot 88-90. We use both an UTH(with a thermo) and a heat lamp to get his temps right. I mist the tank daily to keep the humidity at about 30-40%. He has two water dishes(one under the lamp to help humidity) and one in the cool side. Three hides spread across the tub.
Using aspen bedding(cleaned and changed about 2 weeks ago, spotcleaned daily), a plastic tub, and we are feeding F-T large adult mice, about to upgrade to weaned rats when he's done this batch. We don't have a scale quite yet so I don't know his weight, unfortunately.
So yeah, any ideas? Do they sometimes just have calm phases where they don't explore much? Should I consider adding more "enrichment" such as climbing areas?
