My personal must have would be a sunset. It is the undisputed king of ball pythons at least until the next big morph hits. ( And I'm very happy to say that with luck will have one soon)

As a breeder I would say enchi gives you the most wow for your money but my main tool over the next few seasons will be red axanthic it's a very under used gene and doesn't get the credit it deserves

Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired.

I guess my answer for both would be pied.
Eye catching, recessive, great staple in the hobby.
Another 'tool' in the box would be pastel, a great pastel can really amp up combos.

Must have is pied for me

I am a new breeder this year so couldn't answer that with experience but I would like to say either pied or Mojave as they are what I will be working with mostly xx

    Re: Must haves

From a collection standpoint. I just had to have a pied bald and a albino clown.

As someone trying to breed i felt i really needed the sugar gene.
0.1 : Albino Clown - GHI Pastave - Killer Bee Fader - Sugar Bee - Pastel het pied - Lemon Blast het puzzle

1.0 : Banana - Mystic Potion 66% pos het pied - Pastel Lesser het puzzle - Super Pastel 66% pos het puzzle

    1.0 2012 Albino Red Tail

A must have for me Is definitely fire, Enchi and OD, the way they clean up and brighten up combos is amazing.

stormtrooper has not been proven as anything reproducible as of yet and scaleless imo are over rated tho I will admit the monsoon is phenomenal and has a chance to take the crown but it needs to become more available there just aren't very many of them yet(here's hoping his clutch hatches several this year) and while sunset are rare you can buy one if you want to sell your soul (trust me I know)lol rainbow is sweet too

    Re: Must haves

Sooooooo... I have no idea how to answer this. Many of the previous statements include snakes I am not interested in (I hate albinos, the only one that struck me kn the group is the toffee, and it isn't even close to my list of "genes to get").

However, I did scour every ball python base morph from the World of Ball Pythons. Here is my top list:

Super Stripe Complex: Orange Belly and Spector.
    BEL Complex: Bamboo, Lesser
8 Ball Complex: Black Pastel, Huffman.
    BlkEL Complex: Disco, Fire.
Other: GHI, Calico/Sugar, Pinstripe, Enchi, Pastel.

You will notice that for SS, 8 Ball, and BlkEL the snakes represent a strong and weak super form. Crossing those leads to some extremely nice looking snakes. My goal is to get as many of each morph in individual snakes within my price range at the time (dropping morphs for better looking individuals if need be)

Secondary list: het Daddy, Special, Blackhead, the entire Super Stripe complex, Arroyo, Blade, Brite, Clown, Chocolate, Genetic Banded, Genetic Black Back, Harlequin, KRG, Lace Black Back, Leopard, Mario, Mahigany, Orange Dream, Paint, Pied, Red Stripe, Shredder, Sandblast, Shatter, Trick.

That secondary list only includes the ones from Morph Market, there are a lot more that aren't on there.

    Re: Must haves

So many cool genes but if I could only have five... Disco is a must! Mojave, enchi or orange dream , yellow belly, spotnose.
And one recessive it would be desert ghost.
