It just a coincidence or bad quality

I got two bags of mice and rats from big cheese factory. Rats start to bleed everytime I thawed one out usually from nose no weird color, mice never.

My ball python refused to eat the rat every time I offered to him for like 5-6 weeks. And when I offered mice he would eat it.

but the THING is before I got my order from big cheses facotory I offered a rat I got from pet smart and he ate it.

I'm sure my ball python eat both rodents. (I know its bad to kind of switch from rat to mice but I just wanna my snake to eat)

He hasn't eat a single rat from that ONE BAG. and I know ball python is extremely sensitive about the quality of the rodent.

    Any thoughts ???

It is not unusual for frozen rodents to bleed from the mouth and nose. It is possible you got a bad batch but not likely. Wait two weeks and try again.

BP's are picky. i have one beautiful BP that only ate a rat for me once. after that, she went on a hunger strike and will only eat mice. i guess she didn't like the taste of rat and refused to eat until her palate was clear of the rat taste lol. she eats now eats 3-4 adult mice per week. she's a mouser. maybe u have a mouser too. i still offer and try to convert her to rats tho.

anyway i've always had good experience w/ Big Cheese. i think their products are very high quality. it seems that the bleeding is a symptom of the vacuum sealing/packaging process. PitOnTheProwl discovered that first hand: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...12-More-an-FYI

Nose bleeding they were probably gassed too quickly, not going to make a difference for quality of the feeder really, probably just scent of rats vs mice as far as refusing. Lots of ball pythons are hard to switch.
