What is wrong with his eye?
Sorry if it's something obvious, I am new to snake ownership.
I got him two weeks ago at an expo and I didn't notice it at the expo but I was also really blinded by excitement lol. He is currently in a 20 gal tall with a heat pad and heat lamp. Humidity stays 50% - 70% and temp is usually 80f.

Re: What is wrong with his eye?
Few questions for you; first, is that heat pad controlled by a thermostat? If not unplug it until you get one
Second, is your snake fed live? Could be an injury from a bite or it could be part of a stuck eye cap. If it's an eye cap just leave it alone unti his next shed and it should remedy itself. Make sure your husbandry is spot on. You can also add a humid hide when you notice the signs of a shed.

Heat pad isn't controlled with a thermostat BUT I ordered one and it's on the way.
I feed f/t but I don't know what his past owners did. Thanks for the reply, I was getting really worried about it.

For now now unplug the heat pad until the thermostat shows up; your snake will be fine without it for a few days. Better then risking a burn.

Re: What is wrong with his eye?
Hi,
It looks like when he shed he pulled out a little of the skin that joins the spectacle to the rest of the skin. Do not try to remove it in any way. It's meant to be there but is normally tucked in out of sight.

It can also come displaced if they mush their heads into something real hard, or during feeding from bite pressure or... lots of things really. Usually goes back to normal by next shed.

Re: What is wrong with his eye?
Thanks for the replies everyone!
But it seems I may have another problem. I got the thermostat and put the heat pad temp at 79F - 83F (it changes throughout the day but doesn't get higher than 83F. Also I would like to note I have removed his heat lamp.). The problem is that my bp no longer wants to use it, he stays on the cold side 24/7. Im worried because before I knew of this I fed him.

Re: What is wrong with his eye?
How are you checking your temps??? Do you have a temp gun?? If not, I would suggest getting one - they are such an important tool in this hobby.
Also, you may already know but the correct temp range should be 80 cool side 90 hot side.
Some tend to stay on the cool side more often but be sure to check your hot side temps with a temp gun to make sure it is not too hot on that side. Without a temp gun you will not get an accurate reading on the temps.

^^^ yes to that ^^^
Also, your UTH (heat mat) is only there to create a hot spot. It will barely affect your ambient temps at all. Your hot spot should be 90-92 on the surface (the surface, not the substrate. checked with a temp gun) Your ambient temps should be high 80s-90 on the hot side and 78-82 on the cool side.
