My Kingsnake is the absolute worst during shed. He turns into a jerk (not that I blame him) and will lunge at my hand despite being an absolute sweetheart typically. He's never even attempted to strike when not in shed (barely got a tail rattle one time), but even just reaching into his enclosure to change his water, spot clean, etc... is a challenge at times when he is in shed.
It must be pretty miserable for them if it changes his behavior this drastically.
I feel bad for them as well.
