Hi! I would like to ask about temperature
I recently owned a ball python and have been wondering to put a heat mat or not
considering the hot weather in my city which is Indonesia,Jakarta (30 degrees on day 29 degrees during night an 24 degress on rainy season)
so do I really need to put a heat mat because I'm afraid that my snake would overheat?
other snake owners in my city never uses any heat mat considering the weather

I would use a mat to create a hotspot. You want a hot spot of close to 90°f or 32° c but your ambient temperatures are good. And would probably work without​ a mat.

I would not use a heat mat if the temps are 29/30 it is perfectly acceptable to keep BP with ambient temps alone in those ranges (I do it most of the year), those are actually too high as a cool spot if used in combination with a hot spot.

During the rainy season however you need to provide a hot spot as 24 is too low to facilitate digestion.

I would put a heat mat on anyways and control it with a thermostat. That way you know your hotspot will always be where it should be. Its too easy to forget what the temperature is and just adding a heat mat now, just in case, will be easier than down the road.
