Why even use substrate when you have paper towel or newspaper

I use paper towels under my substrate. I use substrate to attract humidity and it just looks more natural to me.

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely try that next time I have difficulties. I usually just warm mine up under the heat lamp. I usually feed in a separate tub bc I don't want him to swallow a piece of substrate. But maybe it's the best to do it in their enclosure bc they feel the safest? I wait until evening to feed as well.

To be honest I feed all mine in their vivs . I simply put a couple of pieces of cardboard down in the Viv and feed over that . Never ever had any problems . I really don't like any part of feeding in separate containers .

That's why I use the paper towel underneath. I roll it up with all the substrate and scrub out the rest.
