For cleaning my enclosures, my vet recommends I switch from 10% bleach water to chlorhexiderm. What are the advantages of chlorhexiderm?

He might be saying that because chlorhexadine costs more. It's what vets use to clean pretty much anything, except Parv-O-Way. If bleach is working for you, then I would keep using it. Just so there isn't a bleachy-smell afterwards you should be good. \
Chlorhexadine is good because you can spray it on the snake as well. Use it for wound cleanings, such as infected teeth, bite wounds, and so forth. It's just a disinfectant like bleach is. The only difference is cost and smell

So can one clean the cage with alcohol and peroxide?
-
-
You can do the peroxide-vinegar spray bottles. Those are effective. But neither one, alcohol or peroxide is a disinfectant, unless you let it soak in either for more than 30 minutes. Wouldn't do any good. Good ol' bleach will do the trick. Or you can just get some virosan and use it everywhere.

yep, i'm all for virosan too. i do an occassional complete breakdown and use 10% bleach/90% water, but otherwise virosan is the way to go.
