2.5 year old male no sign of sperm plugs

so I have a powerhouse male that i been raising up hoping to put to my female… This year is going to be the first year I will try pairing them. The females are all 4+ years old and 1800grams or more. The male however is around 800gram and 2.5 years old. However its still looking very babyish and its not producing any sperm plug. It eat every time and look hungry immediately after and stay hungry till the next feeding time.

Am I underfeeding him too much? I haven't found any sign of sperm plug but he is definitely sold to me as a male. For the amount of money and genes involve i doubt the breeder gave me a female instead… I'm also too scare to try and pop him.

Any advice for a new aspiring breeder?

Try popping him. If a sperm plug pops out, problem solved.

Introduce him to the females, see if anything happens.

Try bumping him over 1 kg.

uncomfortable with popping him myself… i tried but his squirming made me stop immediately… I think i will have more confidence popping babies when and if i do have any

will be bumping him over 1kg with some heavier feeding and will definitely be throwing him in with females comes breeding season. Is there any other physical trait i can go off of? I know popping is the only sure way but i was also told that male are slender tail longer, feed more aggressively etc which he seems to be

How much money do you stand to gain if he breeds for you?

If the answer is twice or more the vet visit, get him probed by a herp vet. That way you know for sure and aren't just going off your faith in the original breeder.

I also wasn't suggesting fully popping him. Trying alone has made large sperm plugs come out for me.

Sperm plugs is an incorrect generally used for emipeneses' shed. They have little to no value to the snake's reproductive ability.

If you're unsure about the sex have a vet or reptile shop check for you. I also find easier to use probes, they're not that expansive.
