What information to keep track of?
I know a lot of people ask a lot of different questions about animals someone has in their care. Often it's the weight, when they last ate, when they last shed, etc.
Now everyone keeps track of different information, some people don't keep track of anything, and a lot of information could be kept that may be overlooked.
So what information does everyone keep track of?
Ball Pythons 1.1 Lesser, Pastel
1.0 Lesser Pastel, 0.0.7 mixed babies

I usually track weights Used to track how often/what they ate, but now I only make note of it if their patterns change, like if I have a snake that's a regular feeder that suddenly slows down or stops. Never worried too much about sheds. Once I start pairing in fall I will track who went with who and whether or not I observed a lock, and of course pre-lay shed.

Re: What information to keep track of?
This is what I use to keep track of feeding/shedding. If anything other is noteworthy I usually write it down.

I track feeding schedules including offerings, successful feedings, refusals and regurges.
I track weight prior to each feeding with juveniles up until they have reached approx full-size, then I weigh roughly monthly. Length I track roughly monthly until approx. full-size is reached.
I also track sheds including when they turn opaque, when they clear and when they actually shed, along with any notes.
I don't track each defecation, but I will make notes if any of my snakes "bathroom pattern" seems a bit different from usual.
Some info I track for my own educational purposes, some I track in case there are any issues. If any of my snakes need a vet trip I will be able to answer their questions accurately and help them to provide the best medical care they can.

I track feedings, sheds, and occasional weights. I got into the habit after I got my third snake, she was the first I got from a breeder and they kept good records, so I kept up with hers and started keeping the same type of records for my others.
1.0 Normal (Emrys)
0.1 Fire (Calypso)
0.1 Pied (Tessa)
0.1 Albino Kingsnake (Nienna)
2.1 Cats (Suki, Daisuke, and Kyo)
0.0.2 Leopard Geckos (Chi and Pixel)

I have a super professional system of writing on a calendar. I write down (most) sheds, who eats every week and when the short tails crap. I only weigh the snakes occasionally but write that on there too.

0.0.1 Pantherophis guttatus

Re: What information to keep track of?
I've got a little pocket journal where I write down feedings (how much, any odd behavior or refusals, etc), weekly weighings, sheds, poops, and any equipment issues. Partly out of curiosity, and partly because my memory is truly terrible and I'll forget if my boy ate or not the day after I fed him, so a written record is immensely useful.

Re: What information to keep track of?
I keep a color coded Excel spread sheet with separate tabs for each category. when you have multiple snakes it's easy to forget and get them mixed up a good tracking system is a must.
- Date purchased, where I purchased, morph, sex
- Feeding, date, what they ate, refusal, assumed reason for refusal
- Shed date,
- weight every two months
- I used to track poops but the list got to long and I never referenced it so I stopped

Re: What information to keep track of?
For my animals, I keep track of exceptions when it comes to feeding (less entry to enter than entering everyone that ate), I do not keep track of shed (unless pre-lay) or bowel movement as it is irrelevant.
Other than that I keep track of pairings, locks, ovies, egg laying.
For animals that I do not keep I keep track of feeding (again I keep track of exceptions, easier to write down 10 snakes did not eat rather than writing that 100 snake ate)
It's about efficiency and keeping track of things that can be relevant.

Re: What information to keep track of?
I keep track of feeding and weight. That's about it really. I have calendar reminders for feed days. If someone doesn't eat I make a note of it.
