    Jump start heat mat thermostats?

Has anyone used a Jump Start heat mat thermostat for their ball's heat mat? Do they work well, worth the $30, etc? I know herpstats are top notch but they are not in my price point at the moment.

The Jump Start thermostats are okay for a budget, that's what I use right now.

Use it for now, but I would start to save up for a herpstat. When a jumpstart fails it fails wide open. I just switched everything over to herpstat and I'm sleeping better at night.

Re: Jump start heat mat thermostats?

I like the jumpstarts so far but plan on getting a herpstat in the near future. As for my review I give 4/5 stars I don't like how I have them set to 92* and the temp reading goes from 90-94* to me that seems like a to many degree jump before turning on/off. But it has a slot to hang them and it's fairly small. Overall awesome for the price

I've used 3 jumpstarts, and they all became too inaccurate to use within a year. One of them failed within 4 months or so. So even though they're cheap to use now and will work for a little while, a herpstat 1 basic is much more worthwhile in the long run, since it will last you years/forever!

I've used jumpstarts for QT cages and stuff and they have worked fine. They are cheap t-stat so you pretty much get what you pay for. In a pinch or for a QT cage, sure, go for it. I would upgrade asap to something like a Herpstat or Vivarium Electronics though. The t-stat is a key important item. I personally use Herpstats and have for years. Just broke down and picked up the Herpstat 6. It's sexy in a box
