How to make your BP active during the day?

I know that BP's are active during the nighttime but I was wondering if there is any way to make them active during the day instead? I know there is a way to do these kinds of things with hamsters and other small animals.

When I turn off all the lights and only have the red light inside of my snake's tank it seems to make my BP think its nighttime, and she goes about climbing exploring. But I don't know if this may mess up my BP's schedule? Or if it's unhealthy?

Best just to let nature do its thing in some cases. Messing with day and night cycles is a known interrogation technique used on humans. I imagine it is not the best thing for other animals either.

    Why?

They are nocturnal why would would want to mess with that???

There are diurnal species if you want a snake that is active during the day.

Re: How to make your BP active during the day?

It's generally agreed upon that there are more factors than just light that affect animals' circadian rhythms, but it's not really clear exactly what all of these factors are - especially not for snakes. Zoos do what you are proposing for some of their nocturnal animals, but I don't know if they do anything additional besides change the lighting. Even if they don't, they have more experience, vets, etc to see if it's working properly. I'd put it in the category of probably possible, advanced technique at best. I personally would stay away from trying it.

Give your BP completely unacceptable conditions. Then it will be active during the day trying to find a better home lol. Otherwise, accept the fact you bought a pet rock.

A healthy, "happy" ball python will basically be a pet rock during the day. Please don't try to change that. There are plenty of species of snakes that are diurnal. If what you want is a snake that's active during the day, please reconsidering keeping a ball python. Please be a responsible animal keeper and do your due diligence to find the right pet for you. If a ball python is not right for you please rehome it and find the right snake for you. There are plenty of people on this forum who are willing to help you if you are willing to learn and keep these animals responsibly. If a diurnal species is what you're looking for just ask, we're happy to lead you in the right direction. Just please don't torture your ball python by trying to change something that nature hasn't changed in thousands of years.

Haha pet rock. Perfect description. I'm on a night schedule so my beep and I both only move after the sun goes down lol

Royals are great to handle anytime so that's surely a bonus ...

If you want a stunning looking display snake that it's active day and evening and is great to handle ....get yourself a Rhino -nosed rat snake
