Rich Ihle is the breeder who developed the Salmon bloodline (google "line breeding"). Hypo is short for hypomelanistic, a genetic mutation wherein a snake has a reduced amount of dark pigment in its skin. So Salmon is a specific type of hypo, but most hypos are not Salmons. A true Salmons must trace its lineage back to Rich Ihle's breeding project. Incidentally, hypo (nor any morphs) is not a sub-species, it is a genetic mutation found within one species, Boa Imperator. There are morphs to be found occurring in other species and sub-species of boa, but the vast majority are imperators.
