    Question about moss

I am brand new to this forum so I hope I am doing this right. I would like to add moss to my b/p Viv I live in the woods in Oregon and am surrounded by moss . Can I just go pick some and use that instead of buying it from a reptile retail place?

Hi, welcome to the forum...I know that with branches or rocks they need to be treated in order to kill any potential parasites. Some methods include baking, freezing or a bleach solution. I have only used the baking method, but I'm not sure how well moss would hold up to being in the oven.
I would advise not using moss picked from outside until somebody with experience there says it's ok. For the most part, the people on here who are giving advice are experienced, knowledgeable keepers who are very trustworthy.

    Re: Question about moss

I wouldn't do that - too much room for potential problems. It is cheap enough on amazon.com and it last a long time. Better safe than sorry is my motto.
