Confused about belly heat
So I'm about to get into the hobby and like everything else I do I want everything to be perfect.. I am confused about the term "belly heat".. Mainly because I see a lot of people talking about using either RHP heating or UTH heating.. If I'm using a RHP,how exactly would my snake get "belly heat"?? Would it be from having a basking bulb at one end of the enclosure(hot side)??
I don't want to sound stupid, but I am not one to do things half hazardly..Especially when caring for a living creature.. I just want to better understand ..

I think rhp is heated panel to attaches to the roof and simulates heat lamps, and belly heat would be the uth pads.

Belly heat simply tends to be the most efficient for ball pythons - they don't "have" to have it. It really doesn't matter how they get the warmth, as long as they have access to the proper temperatures to do their thing (thermoregulate themselves).

Re: Confused about belly heat
Belly heat, at least I believe, was sort of an urban myth that they NEED it or ELSE! Overhead heating is fine as long as all the Temps are right. Some people that have a large collection and have a dedicated snake room heat the entire room itself.
Simply put: They need heat.

For you to provide belly heat this means you provide heat from underneath the enclosure (not the top, not the side)
Is is necessary? No
When a hot spot is provided (not everyone use a hot spot I do not most of the time), is it the most efficient? Yes, heat travel up and y providing belly heat the heat there is less heat loss.
Heat efficiency = cost efficiency
