Bedding for breeding

What is the best bedding (cost and performance) that I can use for my rack system?,what are all the other successful breeders using in their racks? Pros and cons?

I personally don't use racks but I know people who do and most (from what I've seen) use newspaper or aspen. Both are super cheap (newspaper practically free) and even though neither hold humidity very well, the fact that the snakes are in a rack system usually means humidity normally isn't a problem.

I am considering building my own rack for my snakes and if/when I do I'll likely be using cypress just so I don't have to replace everything every time someone goes to the bathroom. Spot cleaning is impossible with newspaper substrate.

My vote goes to orchid bark / ReptiBark . Looks great , makes your snakes look great , fabulous for regulating the humidity wether you need it humid or dry .

I have used several bedding when breeding, I however no longer use aspen or cypress mulch, I had issues with both a case of bedding getting in the wrong place which caused a male to develop and abscess and another to develop an infection. After that I used newspaper, this season I am using coco coir chips as a test run.

The pieces are bigger than aspen yet not and big and shark as cypress mulch so we will see.
