Listen to Zina, the advice she is giving you is sound. It does not do an animal any good to be rescued to just be put back in the fire. I give you credit for asking for help. Follow the care sheet and hopefully things will improve.

You should have either researched/googled some or reached out to someone on a forum or locally as soon as you got that snake.

Every animal, esp. reptiles, all have very certain needs. If you rescue one, you should make sure you provide proper care. Look up Dumerils Boas.

What kind of heat are you providing? If the heat and humidity is off, your animal can either get sick or act out.

Please tell us more about the setup. And what you are willing/able to change. There are great write-ups here on how to make glass tanks work. But you have to have proper heat and ways to control it (thermostat) and ways to check it (thermometers/temp gun).

I'm not 100% sure , but it looks like stuck shed on the head. Try to also post on the "Boa" sub forum, they will know more about that species.
I'm not completely illiterate to the fact of taking care of a snake I just was not for sure what type he was he does have a hide a bowl of water big enough for him so can if he wants to he also has asked him savings for his substrate since I have had he has doubled in size I make sure to feed him on a regular basis every two weeks a rat that is the proper size from the pet store I give him only fresh spring water or bottled water I do not give him tap water or well water that has chemicals in it I may be a newbie but he is probably being taken care of because my number one priority is my kids my snake my betta fish and my three hermit crabs I've had snake now Thor about six weeks and I have made sure to keep his temperature at the proper temperature

I was going by your words. You said you didn't know what the temperature or humidity was. Or what kind of snake.

Different snake species can have very different husbandry needs. Without knowing what kind of snake it is, and without knowing what the temp and humidity even was, I simply assumed you were sort of "flying blind".

Now you say You have been making sure to keep his temperature correct.

    So I'm a bit confused..

Anyway, about the head. Can you make a better close up picture? Have you tried the wet towel in a container? Upping the humidity?

Touch him with something long to let him know it is not feeding time and see if he calms down. If not you may have to wait for one of the boa people to help you out. I would just grab him but I do not care if I get bit. You may end up needing to get a snake hook. I don't know enough about that particular species to help you further. You are going to have to find a way to deal with him though or cleanings and such are going to get exciting.

From what I have read they are supposed to be a relatively calm species. They can hit 9 feet the average being 3 to six. I 9ft snake with an attitude problem is going to be a handful. Hopefully he calms down for you.

Is it the "I'm hungry" aggressive, or more of a general spazzing out? You said earlier that the was snapping at stuff that he himself was touching..

Sounds like something is going on. I wonder if that shed is aggravating him, if that is what it is.

If you are nervous, wear something long sleeve and thick, like a sweater or jacket. Wear gloves if you have them. Once you pick them up, they usually stop acting up, but with him being "odd" one doesn't know.
Get a container ready, something he can't get out of (make sure he has air though) Have the wet towels and everything ready. Try to have it near his enclosure. Then just go for it. Use a empty paper towel roll to "re-direct" his head or to push it gently away from his body where you are going to grab him. How big is he/she? Hard to tell on the pictures.

If nothing else, use a towel, put it on him and CAREFULLY pick him up through the towel.

Once you got the current situation under control, you will need to figure out a way to handle him/her more and better. For now, try to get that shed off. Double check temps. Or at least zoom in to be as close and clear as you can and get us another picture.

You can do it Don't let that lil heiffer intimidate you..

    Re: Help

Do you ever handle him? Has he always been like this or just recently? How do you clean the cage when he acts that way? You are going to have to get him out and look him over. And take care of that head issue. Is there someone that can help?

Maybe you should get in contact with redshepherd on here. She has a dumeril's boa so she might be able to give you some useful information.
