On a whim, I emailed the Miami-Dade FD to see if they might have an update on what happened to the little python.
I got a reply from Lt. Mullin who rescued the little girl, and he said that she survived. She was adopted by a local breeder and "Ball Python fanatic" who nursed her back to health. She is feeding normally and has shed twice since December.
Sounds like the story has a good ending.
PS- I also dropped the name of the forum, and am hoping that maybe we see a thread pop up so we can enjoy her progress.
