First time BP feeding.

I know that I've read a bunch on that in the first week of having your new BP to not be surprised if they don't eat. But my little guy would strike and wrap up the mouse. (frozen thawed) He would sit there for a second but then just drop it.

Having the same issues. She wraps up and then drops it. And so I tried again and she missed. I went to get it out of the enclosure and she struck again, and missed.

In either case, has the BP fed for you before in that enclosure? If they are in a brand new environment, it's sometimes too much to try and introduce a new food type right away.

The most successful methods seem to be first perfecting husbandry, letting it settle in a week with minimal interaction, feeding it whatever type of food it was eating prior to you obtaining it, then once it is consistently feeding for you, introduce the new food type.

If that isn't possible, it's probably even more critical to make sure the setup is perfect and stresses are minimized.

(frozen thawed) He would sit there for a second but then just drop it. He did it twice so I took it as he wasn't hungry. So my question is how long do I wait before trying again? I'm trying to switch him to frozen thawed from live feed. I live in a town where I can't buy live so frozen thawed is the only actual cost efficient way other than me starting to breed mice. But that seems like a bit much just for a single snake and I don't really want to have to take care of mice while waiting till he decides to finally eat. I know that if it comes down to it I will go get him live. But in the long run it would make things easier to switch to frozen thawed. But how long till I should stop trying to switch him to F/T and give him live? The last time he ate it was 3/2 so its been a week already.

This method WORKS if done properly ...
I wait until evening as they're nocturnal of course . I let the rodent thaw out in the reptile room so they get the smell ..
Then I warm up the mouse / rat with a hairdryer and offer with tongs IMMEDIATELY whilst still warm . If refused simply repeat the heating and offering as many times as needed. .
A couple of mine will only strike feed from within their hides so I dangle the warm rodent in front of the hide's entrance - usually works but if it fails simply reheat the rodent with a hairdryer and immediately offer again whilst it's still warm , continue until it's grabbed ...
I always wait until evenings to feed as they're nocturnal of course .

Incidentally , if it shows no interest at all not even a tongue flicker maybe it's best to leave for a week or so !
