Risks in feeding during the shed cycle/right before a shed

I've actually never heard of this one in my life before... But I was just informed that someone's carpet python struck and wrapped their meal so tightly, right before a shed, that it tore their skin off a few days prior to when it was supposed to come off. It resulted in skin irritation which ended up leaving a scab until the next shed, and it left a scar. Some other GTP keepers also recommended not feeding a snake during the shedding process (and not just "not feeding the snake if it doesn't want to eat").

I'm interested to know if this is only a thing with arboreal or semi-arboreal snakes or something, because I've never seen anybody talk about this with ball pythons or boas before.

Right?? I'm like, I have doubts, because I can't even imagine this happening. But they also keep GTP and seem to know what they're talking about at other points, so I'm thinking it's most likely true.

I've never had any problems. I try my best to stay on feeding schedule and if that falls during a shed cycle I still feed. No issues have popped up yet.

I can't find any other mentions of that happening. Hopefully, it was just a fluke occurrence.
