If that is aspen, I would switch to something different. Aspen is murder for keeping humidity up. Coconut husk and cypress mulch are ones that I have tried and liked. The coconut bricks take some prep work with soaking and drying time. There are others, too.

I have foil on the top of mine, and 3 sides are covered with Reflectix (the shiny bubblewrap stuff) for insulation. I have a LOT less trouble with heat loss, and my humidity drops much more slowly. I only mist every couple days. I have avoided a humidifier because I don't want it to fail or be off and end up with 100% humidity.
