Yeah, we used it on our old Nissan's rims, and it did wonders. It scared me too!
I just use a 5% bleach solution, and I make sure I rinse very thoroughly.

I have a question: what is the best method of cleaning wooden items that go in your cages? I have a few pieces of driftwood in my beardie's tank, and they get pretty nasty when he sits on them all day, but I do not want traces of bleach to harm him. Maybe nolvassan?
