I basically waited until the next shed and kept a better eye on the humidity. I also did as a vet suggested on another forum:

IF you determine or strongly suspect that he had retained the spetacles (the clear part of his skin that covers the eyeball) it's usually rather easy to deal with. I like to apply an ophthalmic antibiotic ointment once or twice a day directly to the surface of the eye. After a few days, the spetacle generally comes away easily. You can also use petrolatum ophthalmic ointment or just a dab of plain vaseline. Low humidity can be an issue with bad sheds and retained spectacles
I wasn't as diligent (didn't apply as often as the vet recommended) and Aragorn's caps didn't come of until the next shed - but I think it still helped because his eyes didn't look as dry/dull from the few times I did apply it
