My first feed went a little similarly... she grabbed it right away, but didn't hit a good spot....got it on its side rather than at the head

She dropped it a few times and had to keep adjusting...but she kept persisting and persisting, moving around to find an ideal spot... I was worried for awhile she'd get frustrated and leave it, but luckily she FINALLY got a good hold on the head and swallowed it down

Second feed was similar, but she did a lot better...and actually I fed her two feeders that time because they were two small mice rather than rat pup ... fed her one and let her swallow it down and gave it a few minutes, then she fed again on the second one no problem

Third time though, she wouldn't strike at all and now I realize it's because she's in shed (the next day her eyes were cloudy), so she maybe didn't see it as well or was just too bothered/anxious that I was disturbing her.... but I left the rat pup in her terrarium close to where she went into her hide and then covered around the glass with a towel to give her privacy since she seemed a bit spooked... and when I checked back after 15 or so minutes, she was swallowing it

So...chances are good she may still eat it even if you have to just leave it and walk away ... in my limited experience.
