spillways and flash flooding
For folks is the affected areas of Cali, even into Sacramento please keep an eye on the news, and be ready to evacuate if necessary.
I hope they can fix it, but the spillways are deteriorating. Things could go bad in a big way - a wall of water is nothing to mess with.

People forget how powerful nature can be especially since we havent had a lot of rain in Cal like this for a while. Hope everyone stays safe, looks like we are getting another round of rain later this week

Yeah. The evac. order was lifted; residents are now allowed back. Honestly, I think that's crazy with rain a near certainty for the next two days. Some of the erosion indicates water pressure underneath the structures, and footage from the air earlier today showed what looked like air bubbles rising to the surface on the lake side of the dam. There are pictures taken from afar with people and heavy equipment in them that give a sobering sense of scale. Our efforts are so puny. It took years to build this dam, and they are trying to stop multiple leaks in a matter of days.
I'm no expert, but that doesn't give me any confidence in it.
