staring a snake collection and confused about quarantine?

So i want to get a few Ball pythons and a rack but i heard that you need to quarantine new snakes so will i need to keep them all separate or is there no point in doing it yet as these are the first ever snakes in my collection and should i just put them in one rack and once i have collection should i then quarantine new snakes in the future so my first collection doesn't get infected or anything? sorry if this doesn't makes sense.

If all the snakes are coming from the same place then quarantine is probably overkill since they all already have quarantine broken. However if you are getting the snakes from different places then it is wise to keep them separated to keep one sick snake from becoming a room of sick snakes.

it will be very hard for me separate them as i can only keep them in one room and my friends wont look after them as well and i am quite worried now as i really want to keep some and maybe breed in the future and what is the chance i could bring a sick snake into the collection and the snakes i was thinking about getting are adults and look healthy.

I would start with buying them from the same person and go from there.

What are the chances? Just like winning the lotto only in the wrong direction.......

In your situation, I'd be very picky about getting your BP's only from reputable breeders who always send out healthy snakes, and hope for the best. I've never heard a single bad thing about Garrick Demeyer's animals, for example.

Do your research on faunaclassified's BOI, if you don't go with Garrick.

so none of you have had any problems with buying snakes before and one of them is from a person who has posted up adds and i have had a look and he breeds them and he has a lot of ball pythons and they all look healthy the other ones are from a shop near me that have been breeding ball pythons for ages now and have very good reputation.

No signs of anything and eating just fine.

Wow, and I thought two of mine popping up with an RI on day 55 of a 90 day QT was a record. Both of those were from the same source, they were in QT with another from a different seller; I'd purchased all three on the same day. The third one never did get sick thankfully.

Re: staring a snake collection and confused about quarantine?

i may have an idea there is a big cuboard outside my room in the hall way and it has vents on the door as well with shelves and maybe i could turn that into a quarantine rack "please tell me if this isnt a good idea" and i might also get a adult female pinstripe and a male banana from 2 different places and a male piebald from the reptile shop near me which i trust the most so i keep the piebald in my rack in my room for my collection and keep the banana and pinstripe in quarantine rack in the hallway out side my room and then 90 days later if all the snakes are fine i can then keep them all in my main rack. does this sound like a good plan?
