Vet?
I adopted a new BP a week ago. He is a 6-month-old piebald. The second day I had him, I attempted feeding and he gladly took it, two days after, I attempted handling. He's as friendly as can be! If I put my hand in to change the water, he starts climbing up my arm and around to my shoulder/neck. I will take him out to explore my room for 30 minutes, then let him do his own thing in his enclosure. He has never stricken me either. The breeder I got him from said I should take him to the vet around a week when I first have him, just to make sure he is in good health. The closest thing I've seen to a problem is him breathing heavier, but I am pretty sure it's just him being somewhat panicked when he first comes out or when I lift up his hide. I'm not sure how much the vet would cost for a checkup, but seeing as I'm 16 without a job, I would have a small problem with that. I currently am saving up $300 for my school fees that need to be paid in 13 days. Does anybody have any insights on whether I should do it or not? He doesn't seem unhealthy but I don't want to risk losing him to something because I was too tight on money to bother checking.
Anybody curious about him, I named him Mal, after Captain Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly. He eats rat pups, and is rather shy unless he decided he wants to come out.

How pretty. I do not go to the vet unless needed. With that said it sounds like your snake is fine. Keep your temps correct and you shouldt have any problems. Also do not take your snake around other snakes ect.. And if you handle other reptiles wash well before touching yours.

I have never took a snake to a vet upon receiving it, and would only consider doing so if there was an issue.
