You could probably turn any hide into a humid hide. All you would have to do is put some damp moss into the hide. Make sure the moss is damp, not dripping. And check it every other day to keep it moist. Good luck. Hope this helped.

What is the best type of moss for BP's and where can you buy it? Also are sponges safe to use too?

Re: How to make a humid hide?
My snake's usual hide is a wide U-shaped tree bark piece, about an inch thick. I bought it for way too much money at petco as a "reptile hide". I've never had any molding issues in his enclosure. Would it be a bad idea to soak that entire hide in water so that it is moist and then keep it moist by spraying after that? I think it might be Exo-Terra or something like that. Do they treat these things to prevent mold?

Re: How to make a humid hide?
I bought a bag of Long Fibered Sphagnum Moss at Home Depot in the gardening section. NET CONTENTS 432 CU IN, 7L, which is ALOT of moss! It is pretty inexpensive ($3.97). I believe the brand is Mosser Lee Company. Since it's completely dried, it lasts for a long time without going bad. I think I've had it for at least 5 months and I am only about half way through. I usually spread it out, then spray it or if its alot, pour water on it from a bottle and then mix it a little by hand.
