Explain that avatar!

I noticed many fun and funny avatars on this site. I often wonder why people use the ones that they do.
Why did you pick yours, and what meaning is behind it? Is it a meaningful statement, or merely just a pic you saw and thought was cute?
For my part: my new avatar is an old pic of my horned frog Benny that I thought was cute. I dredged it from my old, mainly defunct Angelfire website.

Well, I just changed mine recently because I was kinda getting tired of the same avatar that I had had since joining this great community almost a year ago. The avatar I have now does have some meaning to it. When I was in the Army serving in Korea, all the Koreans were saying that I looked like a bear ( I guess because I was 6'4", 250lbs, size 15 shoe and Hairy). Thus I was nicknames Bear and it has stuck to this day to many of my close friends. Also, when I was looking for a new avatar I was not in a good mood (recently having quit my 25 year habit of smoking). So...when I saw this big grumpy looking bear gif. I immediately knew that was the one for me......That's my story and Im sticking to it! lol

I've had the same avatar since I joined. I wanted an image of a snake, but not an actual photo of one. I originally wanted to find image of Uroboros, but found this in a Google image search and loved it.

Ironhead, congratulations on quitting smoking! My dad quit last year after smoking for nearly 48 years (he started when he was 12). I was totally amazed. I figure if you and he can do it, there's no excuse for people who have been smoking for significantly less time than that.

My avatar is the shiny demon from the Tenacious D "Tribute" music video. I like Tenacious D, and I thought it was pretty funny. :-D

my avatar is my kitty phoebie. she loves to pose for the camera, but only until she feels it is time to play again. in this pic she had just decided that it was time for some rowdiness. she flipped over on her back and started trying to grab the wristband on my camera and i just snapped a few more pics. the expression on her face just cracks me up.

I usually don't sound like my "normal" self on this board. This avatar is a pocket dragon. Specifically it's the "NO!" Pocket Dragon. Ok, I'll admit it, I'm something of a curmedgeon. I currently use this avatar on the main message board I use with my friends, so I just transfered it over.

I'd use an avatar of one of my pets, but I don't have any developed pictures of them. My friends also decided that everybody in the group has a totem animal. I happened to end up with Kola Bear, which I have used as an avatar before, but I'm not using it right now.

And Pink Floyd rocks! I love that album Sophie...it's too bad somebody stole it from me.
