@ Gio- I thought you knew about the Olive. I posted a thread the day he arrived 3 weeks ago. I got the albino carpet a week later. You must have missed it . I was really close to buying a SD retic but after seeing those pics of John's Papuan critter I was smitten. I don't see many folks keeping this species so I decided to take the road less traveled. I'm very happy with him so far. He's only bitten me once.

I love my retic, but I am really convinced pythons from Australia are incredible.

I would not let the snakes "play" together in the company of that olive LOL!

I've read more than a couple of stories about missing snakes after being out or caged with olives.

Enjoy it while you can lol. Later the wanting food all the time will become a chore haha. Freakin Caesar wants food 24/7. I just fed him a big quail 2 days ago and today while I was cleaning poop from the cage under his, he was glued to the front door rubbing his face all over it. When I stood up, he tagged the door, then I guess he saw a shadow thrown from me in the cage and tagged the air. So I opened the door and rubbed his head with his twisted paper towel and he went in his hide and poked his head out and sat there lol.

I'm convinced I like that Olive more than the carpet lol. If I wasn't lined up to get me a Pucallpa BCC from Vin Russo or Joel Diaz later this year, an Olive would be a prime candidate but I'm a boa guy at heart. Plus if I can swing 2 more spots(yeah right), I want to get a female Snow BCI to go with my new little Hypo het snow BCI boy and maybe try my hand at making snow glows in a few years

Yeah Gio, my guy is of the Australian persuasion. We both love those Aussie pythons . Once I got turned on to carpets there really wasn't any looking back for me. I've got a coastal, Bredli, albino, and 2 jungles. The olive was a no brainer for me after I saw John's Papuan. If you read that thread you'll see I immediately started asking questions about their size and care. The seed just grew from there. You're right about their feeding habits. They don't play nice with other snakes . I've read about and seen videos of wild olives eating incredibly large prey items like wallabies and crocs. They're not as big as burms or retics, which are probably a little too much snake for me, but they're still big, beautiful, ferocious beasts. They're a very fascinating species to me.

@ Sauzo- That snow glow project sounds awesome! I just Googled some images. Best wishes in that endeavor. I think boas are beautiful snakes too. It was basically a coin toss between a sunglow boa and the SD retic until I saw the olive and decided to try something a little different.

Well, I hope my retic stays smaller than 10'.

I was almost set on an olive but thought their size would be larger than the dwarf x SD retic so I opted to go with the retic.

I'm not sure olives are arboreal in the slightest which is another characteristic I want in my snakes. I'm sure they climb a bit though.

I'm going to hunt that thread down now.

Gio- Olives are semi-arboreal. My guy spends most of his time off the ground but I've also seen him burrow into his substrate too which my carpets never do.
