"Flakey" scales on my BP who is not in shed
Hello all,
My BP is not in shed, but her scales feel rough and some are kind of flakey. Is this because she is dehydrated? The humidity is at 55-60% and she still seems to have "dry skin." Right now, I am giving her a soak for about a half an hour then putting her back in her enclosure. If this does not work, what other methods would anybody recommend to help relieve her flaking scales?
Thank you!

What kind of bedding are you using? When I first got my BP, we were using tissue paper for substrate, and it was too rough on her belly, making the shiny coating of her scales come off, and the colored ones flaky. Your bedding could be too rough.

I am using cypress bedding. Been using that for 2 years now and have not had a problem. Thanks for your prompt reply!

Well I don't know then really, I would just try bumping up the humidity or giving more water for a while, I hope your noodle gets better soon.

I would think that soaking can potentially make things worse, if she isn't sick and needing to soak.

Re: "Flakey" scales on my BP who is not in shed
Pics would help. Have you been misting? And if you are, are you using water from the tap? Sometimes that can cause a little flaking due to the minerals in regular tap water, aka hard water. It's not them flaking, it's a buildup on their scales. I've noticed it before and try to use bottled/filtered water for misting now.
