Humidity levels in melamine cage

Did some scrounging on the forums and couldn't find anything, so I thought I'd ask, and if I missed a post, my bad.

I've got a 36 x 16 x 16 melamine cage, with a glass and screen front (90% glass, 10% screen). Bark bedding, Pro Products RHP (which is awesome BTW), but for the life of me I cannot get the humidity above 40-45%. Deep water bowl under the heater, and have moved it to various parts of the cage, covered the screen to varying degrees, spraying the bedding, coconut fiber, etc.. Ambient is runs from 74 on one side to 88-90 on the other. Snake it totally content, but when it comes shed time, I know it's going to be an issue. He's not seeking the water bowl much to soak.

So, any ideas on bumping that humidity level up?

Which end are you measuring the humidity at? I always look at my cooler side, because I know that under my CHE, humidity will be really low.

What's the humidity in your house right now?

Moss on a hide rock under my CHE has been the biggest help for me.

Both ends, i've been moving it around to get an average, top, bottom, left, right.
House is generally around 30 (SoCal, rained for about 2 weeks and it's still stupid low humidity outside! LOL)

I'll give some moss a whirl. Can't hurt.

Che shed time, there are people that makes humid hides - make a safe hole in a plastic container with a lid (a lighter will smooth the edges you cut) and put dampened moss/bedding inside. They like to go in there, and the humidity will be a lot higher, but not high enough to lead to scale rot.

Anything with a screen is going to kill your humidity. Cover as much of the screen as well as possible. Keep adding water bowls. I know in my PVC enclosure, during the winter months when my furnace is on, I have to keep two large water bowls in the enclosure to keep humidity where I like it. I've even added three at times. My BP has never even attempted to "go for a soak" so don't expect it to lay in water. From the research I have done, only a VERY small percentage seem to enjoy laying in water if they don't have mites.

I'd add more water bowls, and maybe add some wet paper towels to your hides during shed time.

Thanks for the ideas. Got out of keeping them for quite a few years and decided to get back into it last year, so all the little trick and such are starting to come back to my addled brain, but not all. LOL

Taped off half the screen and put in a taller bowl under the heat, got it up to about 55%. I've done the humid hide before, work great. And I have a fogger which once they are blue, i'll use for the two aquarium type setups I have.

I do have one that loves to soak for whatever reason, banana. He just digs it. Not to brag, but my husbandry is really good, so pest are never an issue. I have two (banded king and pastel BP) that only eat live and I make it a point to check them for mites, fleas etc. Sometimes the mites from the shops are horrendous.
